This year's workshop will consist of five sessions over the weekend, all of which are open to the public regardless of background or ability. Session 1 is a push hands workshop, focusing on timing, distance and sensitivity. Push hands practice is essential for developing correct structure and "listening" energy in Tai Chi Chuan, and adds greatly to the intent behind solo practice. Session 2 is a Qigong (pronounced "chee gong") workout which will present several different exercises. Qigong's aim is to coordinate breathing and movement to stimulate the body's energy and bring the body into a healthier and more balanced state. These will be very low impact movements suitable to people of all ages and abilities. Session 3 will introduce the Bagua Zhang "Upper Base" form. This is a short form that contains basic elements of both Bagua Zhang and Xing yi Chuan. Take a look at the Styles page for more information on Bagua Zhang. Session 4 will be an introduction to basic acupressure techniques and exploration of different uses. Material will be informed by questions brought by participants, so feel free to ask about techniques for specific problems. Session 5 will be a continuation of the Bagua Upper Base form. This session will focus on refining the form and exploring applications. Feel free to contact Mike Wiseman if you have questions about attending. For more information, see the flyer and registration sheet.
